West Chester, PA (July 11, 2023)—Puerto Rico faces a severe power deficit due to the destructive impact of hurricanes on its power grid that have resulted in an unreliable electricity supply and frequent instances of power failures.
In response to this uncertain situation, in early June 2023, Weston Solutions, Inc. (Weston) completed the construction, installation and commissioning of dual-fuel, natural gas generators to supply Puerto Rico with 150MW of power within three months from USACE award and notice to proceed. The installation of the temporary power system in Palo Seco is already playing a crucial role in grid stabilization, providing the island with dependable and environmentally cleaner power.
Furthermore, we are actively engaged in installing an additional 200MW of temporary power at the San Juan Power Plant. Stay tuned to hear more about Weston’s work to advance Puerto Rico’s energy resilience.
